Story of 'Jai Ganesha' song graphic art ☀️ 🌻

Updated: Sep 15, 2023

On Ganesh Chaturthi 2022, I was on the heels of COVID-19 and struggling seriously with multiple sequelae from the illness. The musical inspiration for Suvanam was actively gestating through this period, and I wrote a song with Kaasi for Ganesh called ‘Jai Ganesha.’ We performed the song live for the first time for the Ganesh Chaturthi (birthday) celebration that year. I included my small Ganesh statue in the abishek (holy bath) to Ganesh that day. I wanted to commemorate our dedication to Ganesh through music, and receive his divine support in our lives. He has been on my desk where I work ever since.

Several days ago, I decided to take him with me for a sunrise meditation. There is a large Ganesh statue that sits inside a small silver-lined temple. I placed my small statue on the larger statue while I meditated. While in meditation, the inspiration for the photograph above came: to nestle my small Ganesh amongst the beautiful flowers there. He was radiant, and appeared to be emerging from one of the sunflowers as the sun was rising. To complete the graphic, I layered his image over a photograph I took of the rising sun, sacred in its glory.

In this graphic for the song 'Jai Ganesha,' the rising sun can be seen blooming from Ganesh’s big blessing belly as he sits on northeast mountains. The light represents divine creative energy from both the sun and Lord Ganesha. He is the remover of obstacles and great bestower of protection and success, if only we remember him. Dry grasses from the nature merge with luminous sunflower petals, representing the vibrations of autumn harvest and the Mother’s extraordinary bounty. Northeast mountains bring the protection and steadfastness of the Father.

This piece of graphic art represents the emergence and success of infinite creative potential that lies within each of us through Ganesh. May we be blessed to birth our creations knowing that Ganesh’s energy is supporting us all. Jai Ganesha! 🌻
